Taking the long way
A familiar walk changes when you slow down. Look at the upper windows,
the shapes of trees between buildings, and the places where the pavement
gives way to grass. A longer route can make an ordinary afternoon feel new.
Keep a small notebook
A few lines are enough: a sentence from a book, an unfamiliar word,
or a detail you might otherwise forget. There is no need to turn every
observation into a project. Sometimes writing it down is the whole point.
